Ultimate Brownies Tell a Friend

  • 8 squares - 8- 1 ounce squares unsweetened chocolate
  • cups - ( 1/2 lb.) sweet butter, softened
  • 5 - eggs, room temperature
  • 3 cups - sugar, scant cups
  • 1 tablespoons - vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups - flour
  • 1 teaspoons - salt
  • 2 cups - bittersweet chocolate chips or chopped walnuts, or a combinations of chocolate chips and nuts

  • Directions:

    Grease a 9"x13" pan.
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
    Bake 35-40 minutes.
    1- Melt chocolate and butter in a saucepan over low heat. Set aside.
    2 In a mixer, beat eggs, sugar and vanilla at high speed for 10 minutes ( stand mixer works best).
    3. Blend in chocolate mixture, flour and salt until just mixed. Stir in chocolate bits, or nuts, or both.
    4. Pour batter into prepared baking pan.. Test for doneness with a cake tester or toothpick after the shorter baking time- add time as needed; when tester comes to clean, brownies are done.
    5. Cool completely before cutting. Cut before serving.
    Makes 24-32 large brownies.
