Turkey Chili Tell a Friend

Ingredients:

  • - cooking spray
  • 2 - large onions, minced
  • 4 cloves - garlic, minced
  • 2 pounds - ground turkey (or lean ground beef)
  • 1 cans - crushed tomatoes, large can
  • 1 cans - water
  • 2 - green peppers, minced
  • 1 teaspoons - celery seed
  • 1/2 teaspoons - cayenne pepper
  • 2 teaspoons - crushed cumin seed
  • 2 - small bay leaves
  • 4 tablespoons - chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoons - basil
  • - salt , to taste
  • 1 cans - kidney beans
  • - white or brown rice or macaroni, for serving with
  • - fat free cheddar cheese, fat free Greek yogurt, chili peppers, for garnish
  • Directions:

    Heat skillet, add onions & garlic, saute with cooking spray until golden. Add meat and brown. Drain well.

    Transfer to large sauce pan, add remaining ingredients and bring to boil. (Or place everything in the crock pot and cook on low all day.)

    Reduce heat, and simmer uncovered until thick as desired - about 2-3 hours or more.

    Serve with white/brown rice or macaroni. Garnish with fat free cheddar cheese, fat free Greek yogurt, chili peppers.

    This chili is great in the crockpot or slow cooker, too; or just cook on the stovetop.
