Turkey Chili Tell a Friend

Ingredients:

  • 6 tablespoons - oil, or spray skillet with Pam
  • 2 - large onions, minced
  • 4 cloves - garlic, minced
  • 2 pounds - ground turkey (or lean ground beef)
  • 1 - large can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cans - water
  • 1 cans - kidney beans
  • 2 - green peppers, minced
  • 1 teaspoons - celery seed
  • 1/2 teaspoons - cayenne pepper
  • 2 teaspoons - crushed cumin seed
  • 2 - small bay leaves
  • 4 tablespoons - chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoons - basil
  • - salt to taste
  • Directions:

    Heat skillet; add onions and garlic; sauté until golden.

    Add meat and brown; drain well.

    Transfer to a large sauce pan; add remaining ingredients and bring to a boil (or place everything in the crock pot and cook on low all day).

    Reduce heat and simmer uncovered until thick as desired, about 2-3 hours or more.

    Serve with white/brown rice or macaroni. Garnish with fat-free cheddar cheese, fat-free Greek yogurt, chili peppers, etc.

    Brief Description

    Serve this dish with white or brown rice or macaroni; can also be made in crock pot. Even better as leftovers.
