Sand Bars Tell a Friend

  • 1 1/2 cups - Butter
  • 1/2 teaspoons - Vanilla
  • 1 teaspoons - Salt
  • 1/2 cups - Sugar
  • 4 cups - Flour
  • 2 1/4 cups - Pecans, Coursely Chopped
  • 1/2 pounds - Powdered Sugar, to roll bars in, (may need more)
  • Directions:

    Let butter come to room temperature. Cream butter until light and fluffy. Add granulated sugar and cream well. Add vanilla and mix. Sift lour and salt together. Add to creamed mixture and incorporate. Add chopped nuts. This is a crumbly mixture & if it will not stick together, add melted butter.

    Shape with hands into bars 1/2 inch thick and 1-2 inches long. Place on lightly greased baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes at 350 degrees. Put layer of powdered sugar on a large plate. As soon as cookies come out of oven, place in powdered sugar and then sift a layer over the top of the cookies. When coo, re-roll the cookies in sugar. Store in air tight container.
