A simple red beans recipe; add sausage or ham if you like. Also great served over fried potatoes or brown rice.

    Main Ingredient:

    red beans

    Category:  Vegetarian

    Cuisine:  American

    Prep Time: 15 min
    Cook Time: 3 hour(s)

If you want to add meat to this dish, add 1/2 pound smoked pork or ham bone to the beans before cooking, and then add 1/2 pound of smoked sausage before the 15-20 minute simmer. Also tastes great served over cubed, fried potatoes.

Add some Cajun seasoning along with the other seasonings for more of a Creole tasting version.
