  • 1 cups - butter or margarine
  • 2 cups - sugar
  • 5 - eggs
  • 2 cups - flour, sifted before measuring
  • 1 teaspoons - vanilla, optional
  • 1 cups - chopped nuts, optional
  • Directions:

    Cream together the butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each one.

    Add flour and beat well. If desired, add vanilla and / or nuts.

    Pour into well-greased and floured bread pan, then bake for 1 hour in a 350 degree F oven, checking for doneness after 50 minutes.
