    Brief Description

A good basic sauce for spaghetti, cheesy shells, or lasagna.

    Main Ingredient:

    Ground Beef

    Cuisine:  Italian

    Prep Time: 15 min
    Cook Time: 1 hour(s)

This sauce freezes really well, so I usually make a double batch and freeze several containers.

You can use less lean ground beef or sausage, just drain off the excess fat before adding the other ingredients.

I use carrot in this recipe because I had very picky eaters and they wouldn't eat anything else. Luckily, it adds a good sweetness and texture to the sauce so it's a great compromise. You could replace the carrot (or add to it) with finely chopped peppers, mushrooms, or celery. If you like olives, you can add them to the sauce at the end.
