Italian Beef Tell a Friend

Ingredients:

  • 3 pounds - Rump roast
  • 1 tablespoons - Garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoons - Salt
  • 1 tablespoons - Ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoons - Basil - dried
  • 1 tablespoons - Oregano - dried
  • 1 tablespoons - Crushed red pepper
  • 1 tablespoons - Parsley - dried
  • 2 - Bay leaves - dried
  • 1 1/2 cups - Water, 1/2
  • Directions:

    Stovetop: Place all ingredients in a large pot. Cook 3 1/2 hours. Untie string from roast and return to pot. Cook additional 1/2 hour. Slice and return to pot over warm until ready to serve.

    Crockpot: Place all ingredients in crockpot. Cook 7 hours on low or 3 hours on high. Remove String from roast. Return to crockpot and cook additional hour . Shred or slice and return to crockpot on warm until ready to serve.

    Notes

    Serve on warm French bread.

    Grandma’s recipe called for bottom round roast but we have preferred rump roast.

    Can also top with giardineria or cooked green peppers.
