Holiday Cherry Cheese Bars Tell a Friend

For Crust:
  • 1 1/4 cups - Flour
  • 1/2 cups - Brown sugar
  • 1/2 cups - Butter-flavored Crisco
  • 1/2 cups - Walnuts, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cups - Coconut
  • For Filling:
  • 16 ounces - Cream Cheese
  • 2/3 cups - Sugar
  • 2 whole - Eggs
  • 2 teaspoons - Vanilla
  • 1 cans - Cherry Pie Filling, 21 ounces
  • 1/2 cups - Walnuts, coarsely chopped
  • Directions:

    Heat oven to 350. Grease 13x9x2-inch pan. Chop walnuts coarsely and finely.

    Make Crust: combine flour and brown sugar. Cut in butter-flavored Crisco until fine crumbs form. Add finely chopped walnuts and coconut. Mix well. Remove 1/2 cup and set aside. Press remaining crumbs in bottom of pan. Bake for 12-15 minutes.

    Make filling: beat cream cheese, sugar, eggs, and vanilla in small bowl at medium speed until smooth. Spread over hot baked crust. Bake 15 minutes. Spread cherry pie filling over cheese layer.

    Combine coarse walnuts and reserved crumbs. Sprinkle evenly over cherries. Return to oven, baking for 15 minutes. Cool, and refrigerate for several hours.

    Cut into bars, about 2 inches by 1-1/2 inches.
