Grilled Steak and Peppers Tell a Friend

  • 3 whole - Medium yellow and/or red bell peppers, Cut into 1-in. strips
  • 1 whole - Medium red onion, Cut into 1-in. wedges
  • 3 tablespoons - Bottled hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons - Dry red wine
  • 1 tablespoons - Extra virgin olive oil
  • 4 whole - 4-0z. each Beef tenderloin steaks, Cut 1 inch thick
  • 1/4 teaspoons - salt
  • 1/4 teaspoons - Coarsely ground pepper
  • Directions:

    1. In a medium bowl, toss together bell peppers, red onion, hoisin sauce, wine and oil. Thread vegetables onto four 10-in. skewers;* set aside.
    2. Trim fat from meat. Sprinkle both sides of meat with salt and pepper; rub in w/ your fingers.
    3. Heat grill to medium. Place meat and vegetable skewers on grill. Grill meat 10 to 12 minutes for medium-rare (145) or 12 to 15 min. for medium (160), turning once. Grill vegetable skewers about 12 min. or until the vegetables are crisp-tender and lightly, charred, turning once.

    *If using wooden skewers, soak them in water at least 30 min. before using. Or, if you prefer, instead of using skewers, you can place the vegetables in a gill wok; place the grill wok on the grill rack and grill about 12 min., stirring once.
