Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons - lard
  • 2 cups - crushed vermicelli noodles
  • 3 cups - beef broth
  • 1 1/2 cups - water
  • 3 tablespoons - tomato puree
  • 1/3 cups - tomato sauce
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons - garlic powder
  • 3/4 teaspoons - black pepper
  • 1 - fresh tomato, diced
  • 1 - small onion, diced
  • 1 - bell pepper, diced
  • 1 cups - diced carrots
  • 3/4 cups - frozen peas, thawed
  • Directions:

    Heat lard in deep skillet or Dutch oven until almost smoking. Brown vermicelli in lard.

    Add all other ingredients except bell pepper, carrot and peas; bring to a boil and let simmer for 25 minutes.

    Add bell pepper and carrot and simmer 20 minutes longer. Stir in peas just before serving.
