Butter Pecan Turtle Cookies Tell a Friend

  • 2 cups - flour
  • 1 cups - brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cups - softened butter
  • - pecan halves, to cover crust
  • Caramel Layer
  • 2/3 cups - butter
  • 1/2 cups - brown sugar
  • 1 cups - milk chocolate chips, for topping
  • Directions:

    For Crust:

    Mix flour, brown sugar and butter together well, and pat firmly into ungreased 13-by-9-by-2-inch pan. Cover with pecan halves.

    For Caramel Layer:

    In a heavy 1-quart saucepan combine the butter and brown sugar. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until entire surface begins to boil. Boil for 30 to 60 seconds, then pour evenly over crust and pecans in baking pan.

    Bake at 350 degrees F for 18 to 22 minutes or until entire layer is bubbly. Remove from oven, sprinkle with chocolate chips. Allow chocolate chips to set for 2 to 3 minutes, then spread around over top of bars.
